FREE NARCAN TRAININGS TO BE HELD AT ANCORA
CONDUCTED BY URBAN TREATMENT ASSOCIATES, INC. OF CAMDEN
The Overdose Prevention Act now allows doctors the ability to prescribe the opiate antidote NarcanĀ® (naloxone) to those in a position to help someone else during an overdose of heroin or other opioids. The law also eliminates civil and criminal liability to anyone who administers naloxone.
Free trainings and education on how to administer naloxone to reverse a heroin/opioid overdose will be provided on the premises of Ancora State Hospital in Elm Hall.
The training includes:
- Addiction education and treatment options
- Overdose prevention techniques
- Signs and symptoms of overdose
- Steps to take when an overdose occurs
- Rescue breathing
- How to administer naloxone
- Self-help, family support, and other important resource information
All trainings will be provided by credentialed addiction counselors and/or licensed nurses in a small, confidential setting to allow participants to receive "hands on" training.
Any employee from Ancora who would like to attend the free Narcan training must register directly via Urban Treatment Associates by contacting Lindsay Baer-Cope at 856-225-0505 or email uta.hivmgmt@verizon.net.
The first 20 participants registered for each class will receive a free Naloxone Kit. More than 20 participants are welcome to attend the class for educational information and they also must register. You need to only attend one session.
